How do I add Assignment weights?
Assignment groups, also known as categories, are a great way to identify how you will be grouping the assessments your students will be completing. Some ideas of assignment groups are: homework, daily participation, discussions, group work, projects, Final Exam, Midterm, Term Paper, Labs & Reports, etc. Assignment groups can also be set up as Quarters, Trimesters or Semesters for year-long courses. If your institution has a set percentage due per type of assignment across the board, it would be helpful to group the Gradebook assignments to match.

Weighting Assignments
Weighted assignments vs. non-weighted assignments? That is a great question. You don’t have to weight your assignment groups; however, there are a few bonus items that become available if you select the weighted option. The Astria LMS will automatically evaluate the assignment group in the Gradebook and give a specific percentage grade for that group. You can also add some rules to the assignment group to drop the highest or lowest score in the group, or to never drop specific assignments. This can be a great feature to use for weekly assessments or quizzes! Be sure to check it out!
In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link [1]. Click the Settings icon [2] at the top of the Assignments Index Page to open the assignments settings.
Click the Weight final grade based on assignment groups [2] checkbox.
Enter the percentage weights [3] for each of the different Assignment Groups you created. The percentage weights you specify here will determine how the Astria LMS calculates the final grade for your course. These percentages can be changed at any time and students will be notified when any changes are made. The weights will show up in the Gradebook for both students and instructors.
Click the Save button [4] when you are finished.
Once you have added assignments to your Assignment Group, you can create rules for the entire Assignment Group. Assignment Group rules determine how the Astria LMS handles any exceptions you want to create for grade calculations. Assignment groups can be weighted or unweighted.
